WizCap is proud to announce
a Bronze Grove Partnership
with Project Forest
Giving back on behalf of our clients
In early 2024, WizCap’s president, Jeffrey Weigl, had the pleasure of captioning the keynote address of Project Forest’s Executive Director, Mike Toffan, at the 2024 Canadian Land Reclamation Association Conference. Immediately inspired by Project Forest’s commitment to “rewilding Canada’s landscape” and their collaboration with Indigenous communities, a seed was planted in Jeffrey’s mind to have WizCap play a role in “transforming
fields into forever forests.”
Partnering with Project Forest reflects WizCap’s commitment to cultivating trust, promoting ethical practices, advancing equity, & embracing environmental responsibility.
By supporting a rewilding project that restores biodiversity and honors Indigenous knowledge, WizCap will actively contribute to the growth of sustainable forests. Together, we aim to leave a legacy of environmental stewardship and collaboration that enriches Alberta’s
natural and cultural heritage for future generations.
WizCap is partnering with Project Forest as a Bronze Grove Partner to rewild The Ma Matow Sakow Healing Forest, which translates to “The Miracle Forest” in Nehiyawewin (the Cree language). Read more below.
This year, WizCap is delighted to celebrate the season by giving back to our province on your behalf.
Thanks to your support, WizCap has proudly entered into a Bronze Grove Partnership with Project Forest, which will result in:
1,000 trees being planted in Canada’s newest forest: The Ma Matow Sakow Healing Forest.
Known as “The Miracle Forest” in Cree, this rewilding project will transform a former landfill site in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, into a place of healing, nature, and connection.
About Project Forest
Project Forest is a non-profit focused on rewilding local landscapes to capture carbon naturally. Made up of a team of passionate changemakers, we’re creating a community of companies working together to plant forests where Canadians can enjoy them most—close to home.
Each new forest improves the air and water, supports animal habitat and creates natural playgrounds. By partnering with businesses to fund new forest creation, we’re bringing Canadians one step closer to a better place to live, work and explore.

Ma Matow Healing Forest
The Ma Matow Sakow Healing Forest, which translates to “The Miracle Forest” in Nehiyawewin (the Cree language), is a rewilding project in partnership with the City of Wetaskiwin. Guided by the wisdom of Elder Ivy Raine from the Louis Bull Tribe in Maskwacis, Alberta, the new forest will be a living testament to rewilding and reconciliation.
Situated on 3.3 hectares beside By The Lake Park, this former construction landfill site is being transformed into a healing forest that will serve as a place where residents of both Wetaskiwin and Maskwacis can connect with culturally significant plants, nature, and each other.
Project Forest will plant 6,660 trees and plants, creating a diverse ecosystem that honours Nehiyawiwin (Cree culture) and knowledge. The forest will feature plants that are culturally significant to the surrounding Nations, chosen in partnership with Elder Ivy Raine, ensuring the forest leaves a positive legacy on the land for generations to come.
The Ma Matow Sakow Healing Forest is scheduled for planting in Fall 2025, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the City of Wetaskiwin’s journey toward reconciliation.
